USA Lab Proper Chiller Operation
This guide outlines the three required steps for proper chiller operation: waiting period before use, approved coolant selection, and priming the water pump. Failure to follow these steps will void the warranty.

Quick Facts
- Mandatory Wait Time: 12 hours
- Coolant Requirements: Distilled water–based glycol
- Maximum Glycol Concentration: 50%
- Pump Priming: Required before operation
- Warranty Note: Damage caused by ignoring these steps voids warranty
STEP 1 — Wait 12 Hours Before Use
- The compressor oil may migrate out of the compressor and into the refrigerant lines.
- If the chiller is operated immediately, the compressor may run without sufficient oil, causing damage.
- A full 12-hour wait time is required before powering on the chiller.
STEP 2 — Use a Distilled Water–Based Glycol Antifreeze
- Use distilled water–based glycol antifreeze only.
- Glycol concentration must be no more than 50%.
- Do NOT use automotive antifreeze — its additives are known to corrode heat exchangers.
- Do NOT use tap water — it can cause rusting of internal parts.
- Dynalene HC is acceptable.
STEP 3 — Prime the Water Pump Before Use
- Use a short length of tubing (about 2 feet long).
- Connect the outlet and inlet together.
- Run the pump until no bubbles appear in the water line.
- Shut down the pump.
- Close the outlet valve.
- The pump is now properly primed.
Warranty Warning
- Any damage caused by not following these steps will void the warranty.
