USA Lab MM-3TC Bearing and Seals Replacement Guide

This guide explains how to remove the mixing motor assembly, disassemble the seal housing, remove old gaskets and bearings, install new seals, and reassemble the unit. It includes tool requirements, reverse-thread warnings, seal orientation, and bolt-tightening instructions.

Things You Will Need

  • Vacuum grease
  • 5 mm Allen wrench
  • 10 mm wrench or adjustable wrench

STEP 1 — Remove the Motor From the Sealing Assembly

  • Remove the four nuts holding the assembly to the motor.
  • Loosen the two screws holding the shaft to the coupler.
  • Slide the shaft and assembly away from the motor.

STEP 2 — Unscrew the Black Housing From the Seal Assembly

  • ⚠️ Important: The black housing is REVERSE THREADED.
  • Turn RIGHT to loosen and separate the parts.
  • After removal, the assembly should look like the image on page 2.

STEP 3 — Remove the Threaded Adapter From the 3" Tri-Clamp Fitting

  • Remove the four bolts holding the threaded adapter to the fitting.

STEP 4 — Slide the Bearing and Seals Out

  • Carefully slide the bearing and two seals out of the fitting.
  • Be sure to note the orientation of the seals before removal.

STEP 5 — Install New Seals

  • Install replacement seals with even pressure.
    • One seal goes on each end of the shaft.
    • The flat side of each seal must face toward the center of the shaft.
    • Lubricate the inside of the Tri-Clamp fitting and the outer O-ring of the seal.
  • The illustration on page 3 shows:
    • Groove Up (one side)
    • Groove Down (other side)

STEP 6 — Align the Gaskets and Press Into the Fitting

  • Align the gaskets and bearing at the end of the shaft.
  • Use the threaded adapter to compress the gaskets and bearings into place.
  • Tighten bolts evenly in an X pattern, only one full turn at a time.
  • Continue until each bolt is fully tightened.
  • Once complete:
    • Reassemble the housing, turning LEFT to tighten (reverse thread).
    • Reverse all disassembly steps to reinstall the motor.
